Ray Richardson, Jr.
Ray grew up in a manufacturing environment. He
attended vocational school for machining while still in high school, went through his
apprenticeship training for machining at Capitol Gears then attended the University of
Minnesota. He cofounded Ramar Engineering Inc and managed all technical details of
Ramar for 14 years, prior to founding Ratech Machine Inc. He designed and built a
new facility at Osceola, WI in the spring of 1999.
During his 25 years in the industry, Ray has designed and built custom machine tools
and accumulated a broad knowledge of machine capabilities, that has allowed him to produce
specialized parts, which to date, many other shops have declined to do.
Ray is also a pilot. His interest in aviation began in his teens when his father
cofounded Aero Systems Engineering (ASE) which designs and builds Jet Engine and Shaft
Engine test facilities. ASE provides test cells for both commercial and military aircraft
engines worldwide. Ray has also developed a close working relations with Wipaire, Inc.,
supplying many of the components for their amphibious aircraft floats and landing gear.
Rays other company, Ratech Machine, also supplied all precision machined components that
were used in the Twin Otter Water Bomber Amphibious Floats in fire fighting applications
for the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.
